About the area
Tairua is a small coastal town located on the eastern coast of the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. It is situated on the edge of a natural harbour, which is popular for boating and fishing. The town has a population of around 1,200 people, which increases significantly during the summer months due to tourism. Tairua is known for its stunning beaches, including the popular Ocean Beach which is great for surfing, swimming, and sunbathing. There are also several walking tracks in the area, including the Mount Paku summit track which offers panoramic views of the town and harbour.
