Diversification, Farm, Tourism

Kawakawa Station is rich in history. First farmed in 1847 by the Russell family, it was taken over in the 1860's by Charles Pharazyn.

The 'Kawakawa' block was divided off in 1919 and today consists of some 3,400 acres or 1379 hectares. 4,700 stock units are wintered on the property, with a strong Romney flock and Angus cattle.

Kawakawa is renown for its healthy and well framed stock it produces. The lambs and weaner calves are sold store, usually to the same buyers each year, which is testament to the quality of the stock.

Kawakawa is situated on the southern coast of the North Island near the well known fishing village of Ngawi. Kawakawa is 40 minutes drive from Martinborough, an hour from Masterton and an easy two hours from Wellington. The property runs from the coast back to the Haurangi Forest Park.

Two excellent homes are on the station with the homestead featuring three bedrooms, large living areas, swimming pool and views across the Cook Strait to the Kaikoura's. The second house has four bedrooms, delightful farm kitchen and open plan living.

The vendors initiated the nationally renown 'Kawakawa Station' walk which is a three day walk with overnight accommodation in the well appointed huts. It is spectacular with beautiful bush, panoramic views, braided rivers and excellent accommodation.
Other leisure pursuits are hunting, both deer and pigs, fishing, diving, boating and surfing, all on your doorstep.

Diversification is the key with four distinct income areas, the farming enterprise, Kawakawa Station walk, canopy camping and honey production.

Kawakawa station offers the ultimate lifestyle for the enterprising, with its array of options for leisure and income.
