Alana and her partner Tom also run two other local businesses. They love the paradise they live in with their three children. Alana is heavily involved in her children’s school community, and the wider community; sponsoring and supporting the local Fishing Club, organising, and running an annual Pink Ribbon event, fundraising for the local Community Services, managing her son’s rugby team, and is president and founder of the local Athletics Club. She is a passionate believer in ‘giving back’ and understands the importance of volunteer roles.

Whitianga is located on the eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula, 208km from Auckland, 93km from Thames, 42km from Tairua. It is situated on the coast of Mercury Bay along the 5km long east-facing Buffalo Beach, the town centre is at the southern end of the beach.
Buffalo Beach is named after the HMS Buffalo, which was wrecked during a storm while anchored in Mercury Bay. Her anchor can be seen at a monument at Buffalo Beach.
A passenger ferry crosses from Whitianga to Ferry Landing, close to Cooks Beach. The alternative to the two-minute ferry crossing is a 45-minute drive around Whitianga Harbour.

Its position halfway up the peninsula make it an attractive home base to reach a vast range of fishing spots and puts you within short driving distance of world-famous beaches and bays such as Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove, as well as some world-class bush walks also easily accessible from here. Whitianga boasts a bit more nightlife with restaurants and bars open late.
