This Frans Kamermans architecturally designed beach house in Omaha
South stands tall and proud one back from the beachfront making a
bold statement with its unique design.
Completed in 2009 it placed amongst the top 27 designs in the world that year in the World Architecture News, House of The Year competition. Quite an accolade in anyone terms.
Each section of the house has its own shape and materials, creating a sculptural and playful composition. The cedar clad wedge section houses the impressive kitchen, dining and main living areas, with covered decks on 2 sides. The wedge widens both vertically and horizontally towards the sea giving the impression of looking through a camera lens. Importantly this aligns perfectly with the private direct beach access way in front and the view corridor that the site enjoys towards Ti Point and Omaha Bay. The red colour steel oval section houses the entry foyer, plant equipment room, stairwell, powder room, and on the upper level the master bedroom and ensuite. This was also designed to maximise the views above future front row houses. The stairwell links through to the plastered masonry cube section that contains the laundry, double garage, bunkroom, 3 bathrooms, 2 further guest bedrooms plus a study/tv room or 5th bedroom.
Built to the highest of standards with exacting attention to detail in every area, the interior design radiates a warm and welcoming ambience, the perfect place to escape busy city life. Just the feel the owners were trying to achieve, giving the property a lived in and homely atmosphere. Features include: double glazing, American oak floors, European tiling, solar water heating, granite benches, double ovens, four dish drawers, wine fridge, 2 x heat pumps, fully landscaped and irrigated gardens the list just goes on. Well suited for large/extended family use, possible multiple family ownership or executive holiday rentals. Just stunning in all respects and a real entertainers dream.
